In this session, Dr. Wilfred Graves Jr. offers two brief presentations in honor of Black History Month. His focus is on the spread of Christianity during the first few centuries of the Christian Church (video 1) and the subsequent rise of African American churches from the Middle Passage to the early twentieth century (video 2).

In this video, Dr. Graves presents on the spread of Christianity in Africa. Contrary to popular belief, European missionaries were not the first to bring the Christian faith to the African continent. Christianity arrived in Africa at the same time (or even before) it arrived in Europe. In fact, some of the major theological voices of the first few centuries of the Church came from Africa.
